It was a tight game and Dover looked very solid and well organised considering the team had to make some changes to the line up due to player injuries but the team adapted well.  Following some early pressure, Dover started to get some good possession in the wide areas and combined well from defence into midfield. Dover made the break through, when TJ Cannon-Allum put a fine forward pass into the left inside channel for Zaire Smith to run onto, Zaire still had lots of work to do as he dribbled the ball into the penalty area, passed the covering defender to slot the ball home into the goalkeepers near side, it was a great move and finished well.

Zaire caused Sheppey lots of problems with his pace and goal threat, Dover’s wide players played fantastic in the transitional play with Tristan Chapman providing great link up play in the false No9 role.  Sheppey did create some goal scoring opportunities only to be denied again by Dover’s fantastic goalkeeper Felix Mortimore who again pulled off a number of great saves in the second half.  Late on into the game Dover had a number of chances to finish the game with more goals only to be denied by the post and some emergency defending.

The 3 points were well needed following a couple of disappointing results in recent weeks and this should be the spring board for the next few fixtures…
