Dover Athletic U14s bounced back to form with a 7-1 drumming away at
Thanet Colts. Dover had all of the early pressure but good goalkeeping
and wasteful finishing ensured they scoreline remained 0-0. The
deadline finally was broken after Leighton Murray’s cross fell to Rory
Sutcliffe and he crashed his left foot volley into the back of the net
to open the scoring. It was Murray himself who doubled the lead just
minutes later. He picked up the ball on the left hand side of midfield
before making a fantastic run into the box, beating several players
before coolly slipping the ball past the ‘keeper into the far corner.

Dover scored again soon after with Ason Limbu tapping in Tyler Watson’s
cross to effectively end the contest. George Hunt won the ball at right
back before playing it forward to Tyler Watson. He played a lovely one
two with Sutcliffe before slipping the ball into the net for number 4.
The fifth came after a scramble in the Thanet Colt’s box. It finally
fell to Watson who smashed the ball into the bottom corner to finish the
first half scoring.

Thanet Colts came out renewed for the second half and applied the early
pressure which led to a penalty. Freddie Marsh in the Dover goal chased
down a Thanet player and bundled him over leaving the ref with no option
to award the spot kick. The resulting penalty was blasted down the
middle to make the score 5-1.

Dover, however, were in no mood to let Thanet Colts back into the game
and Watson took matters into his own hands, picking up the ball in
midfield before beating 3 or 4 players, going round the ‘keeper and
rolling the ball into an empty net to complete his hat trick with a
fantastic individual effort.

Salman Yediayli completed the scoring with a calmly finished penalty
into the bottom left hand corner after Limbu was fouled in the box.

Dover will need to be at the same level next week as they travel to
top-of-the-table Herne Bay in the league cup.
