Dover U14s continued to move .forward with a 3-0 win over top-of-the table Herne Bay. Bay, who hadn’t lost a league game before today were completely dominated by the young Dover side who took the game to the visitors at every opportunity.

Dover spurned 3 excellent chances before breaking the deadlock. Leighton Murray picked up the ball is n midfield before playing a perfect through-ball to Ason Limbu. He didn’t take a touch before dinking the ball over the onrushing ‘keeper into the back of the net.

With all the pressure being applied by Dover, Herne Bay struggled to find away into the last third. A hopeful ball over the top looked to be easy for the Dover defence, but the back pass to keeper Freddie Marsh fell short and the Bay forward nipped in. He rounded Marsh in the Dover goal, and he tripped Bay striker to conceded a penalty.

Marsh stood tall in the Dover goal and saved the penalty. Just.minutes later Murray let fly with his left foot from 35 yards, but the Bay ‘keeper was equal to it tipping brilliantly over the bar. From the resulting corner Jake McCarthy swung in a fantastic cross which caused panic in the Bay defence. Eventually it bounced up to Rory Sutcliffe who nodded home for 2-0.

In the second half, against a ferocious wind, Dover continued to dominate all over the pitch. Several further chances went begging, and Herne Bay could only reply with the odd counter attack.
Finally Dover sealed the game with the best goal of the match. Sutcliffe and the excellent Connor Deeks combined on the right wing before Deeks crossed into the box where Tyler Watson was waiting to volley home first time to seal the points.

Dover continued to press for.more goals and came closest as Salman Yediayli let fly from 25 yards, and again the Bay keeper did well to stop the ball flying into the top corner.

For the second game on the trot every single player in a Dover shirt put in an excellent display and showed how good a team they are. They have now scored 9 and kept two clean sheets against teams placed 1st and 2nd in the league in the last two games.
