Dover U13s won their penultimate game of the season against visitors Hythe Town. The tone was set in the first minute as Tyler Watson got in behind the Hythe defence, but drove his shot wide of the target. Dover were on top throughout, but a combination of fantastic last-ditch defending and sloppy finishing meant the score remained 0-0 at half time. The best moment came when Rory Sutcliffe played a delightful ball to Ason Limbu, whose fine run and cross found Watson in the middle, but his first-time strike was clawed out of the bottom corner by the impressive Hythe ‘keeper.

The story was the same in the second half, with Dover pressing forward but missing chance after chance. Jye Stoner, Harry Sharman, Connor Deeks, Watson, Limbu and Sutcliffe all came close but just couldn’t find the right finish.

Eventually it was a combination of Watson and Limbu that broke the deadlock. Watson drove at the Hythe defence, committing several defenders before slotting the ball through to Limbu. He beat his man for pace before slotting past the Hythe ‘keeper and into the bottom corner.

Hythe were kept at bay all afternoon by a committed and organised Dover defence.

It was an impressive display by the young white with George Hunt and Sutcliffe standing out as players of the match.
