Dover U13s maintained their 100% record in a game where they didn’t really come to life until the 60th minute.

Ashford took the lead halfway into the first half with a scrappy goal that finally found the back of the net. Dover seemed unable to string any passes together until just minutes before half time. Ned Odlin and James Hardman combined well on the right hand side to play Tyler Watson in behind the defence. His cross was slightly overhit, but was picked up by Connor Deeks, who brilliantly beat a couple of Ashford players before smashing the ball into the far corner of the net.

Dover gave away a poor second goal early into the second half. The ball was stolen from Harry Sharman in midfield, and the Ashford forward was allowed to run unchallenged into the area before firing across Freddie Marsh into the far bottom corner.
Dover seemed to have no answer until around 60 mimutes. Rory Sutcliffe dropped deeper into midfield and picked up the ball. He slipped past several opposition players before playing in Ason Limbu. He beat the defence for pace and blasted the ball into the top corner for 2-2.

All of a sudden Dover woke up. Another ball from Odlin moments later released Watson who ran in to score Dover’s third with a left footed toe poke. It was Limbu who added Dover’s fourth, again running in behind from a James Hardman pass to make it 4-2. Watson finished off the scoring, finding himself with the goal at his mercy after Sutcliffe’s shot rebounded to him in the six yard box.

The scoreline was flattering for the away team, but shows how devastating they can be when the switch on and play.
