Kent County Cup
DAFC 2 v 1 Sevenoaks Town

A fantastic end to end game from start to finish as both teams had dominant spells throughout. In a first half full of missed opportunities from both sides it was Sevenoaks who finally opened the scoring with a fortuitous goal as the ball hit both posts before bouncing in.

However second half and a frantic last 15 minutes saw Dover push higher and higher up the pitch and equalise through Ewan Alexander who beat his defender and fired home across goal into the far corner. Moments later Dover were rewarded again when Alfie Wilkins scored the eventual winner latching onto a loose ball in the 18 yard box and chipping the ball over recovering keeper and into the roof of the net.

Sevenoaks then pushed everyone forward and could so easily have levelled in the dying seconds but thanks to a Ben Snape clearance off the line and a fantastic save from Denis Mehalla the game remained 2-1 to Dover.

On a day of remembrance for the fallen of WW1, football seems largely insignificant but it’s great to see that players, coaches and parents can join in unity and be thankful to those that made the ultimate sacrifice for us to enjoy days like today.

Proud of you boys. Well done.
