Dover Athletic were completely dominant against Ashford on a wet and slippy pitch. They set the tone early on as Connor Deeks played in Ason Limbu, but his shot was well saved by the visiting ‘keeper.

Dover rarely found themselves in their own half, and eventually found a breakthrough when a superb ball from Leighton Murray found Limbu, who beat his man and found the bottom corner with his low drive.

However, Dover were not as sharp in front of goal as usual and several chances went begging in the first half as Deeks hit the bar, Limbu hit the post and the same player broke clear of the defence before placing his shot wide of the post.

The second half started the same way, with Dover piling on the pressure which eventually told when Harry Sharman dribbled past a couple of players before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 20 yards.

Dover continued to miss chances and dominate the game. Ashford rarely ventured forward, but when they did they tried to use the pace of their front man, who was no match for the lightning Louie Procopi at the back. His centre back partner, Charlie Bell was equally as solid and they just never looked like conceding.

Dover wrapped things up when James Hardman scored a stunner from just outside the box. A corner from the left broke loose and Hardman hit a sweetly struck shot into the top right hand corner.

Dover saw out the game and produced an excellent team performance to consolidate their position at the top of league.
