A top of the table clash for today’s fixture proved to be a real entertaining show down, with both teams taking the lead throughout the game, but, eventually settling for a draw.

Ramsgate took an early 2 goal lead, both goals scored from corner kicks as Dover struggled to deal with the superior height advantage Ramsgate possess, but a penalty awarded to Dover soon after for hand ball gave the visitors the impetus to stage a come back.

Karolis Piragis penalty was initially saved but Jamie Kennedy latched on to the rebound and fired home with a left footed strike.

Ewan Alexander drew Dover level again capping off a well worked move in midfield with a powerful strike beating the keeper at his near post.

On the half hour mark Euan Bunn then put Dover in the lead with a superb curling shot from the corner of the 18 yard box which sailed over the keepers head clipping the underside of the cross bar on its way through. Dover finished the half 3-2 ahead.

Second half and Ramsgate drew level again with a fortuitous goal. The game had been initially stopped with Dover in possession due to a head injury to a Ramsgate player. Once the game resumed the referee handed possession back to Ramsgate who quickly launched the ball forward and scored and this while players were still discussing the decision with the referee. A strange sequence of events which left the Dover players bewildered.

Ramsgate then took the advantage again when they stole possession, counter attacked and scored a fourth. Such was the speed that Dover failed to recover back to their defensive shape.

Dover continued to attack and their efforts were rewarded again in the last  10 minutes when Ewan Alexander whipped in a cross from wide to Lucas Faroane-Horton in the box. Lucas then passed out to Alfie Wilkins who beat his defender before firing into the top far corner. A great strike and deserving equaliser.

The game remained 4-4 at the final whistle. A very entertaining match, played at a very high tempo. Full of drama throughout and a rather emotional roller coaster for both teams who on the day couldn’t be divided.

Well done lads. Great energy and determination shown today with a few cracking goals to enjoy.
