Dover Athletic continued their winning streak with a 5-3 victory over Folkestone Invicta. Dover were out of the blocks early but Tyler Watson could not find the finish to match his great run and excellent through ball from Rory Sutcliffe. Dover squandered a couple more chances early on, but it was Folkestone who opened the scoring with a flowing move down the right hand side. Dover did equalise just minutes later. Watson went on a fine run down the right wing and his shot was parried by the keeper into the path of Sutcliffe who made no mistake with his first time finish.

Folkestone scored a second with only their second proper attack of the game. A defensive mix up allowed the home team to capitalise to make the score 2-1 at half time.

Dover hit early into the second half. Ason Limbu poked home from six yards following a scramble in the Folkestone box. Folkestone missed a penalty after a rash challenge from ‘keeper Freddie Marsh just inside the box. Fortunately for Dover, the spot kick was blasted over the bar. Ned Odlin put Dover ahead for the first time just minutes later. An excellent move through the Dover midfield ended up with Watson playing in Odlin whose first time shot found the far corner. Dover went 4-2 up when Sutcliffe produced an excellent curling finish into the top corner from the edge of the box following a good move down Dover’s left. Watson competed Dover’s scoring, racing onto a through ball from Sutcliffe before unleashing an unstoppable shot that flew into the top of the net.

Folkestone pulled another one back five minutes from the end, but it was too little too late to mount a comeback challenge.
Dover’s midfield worked hard throughout with Harry Sharman, Harley Scrivener, Zion Gabriel and Odlin putting in decent shifts.
Man of the match went to Jye Stoner, who produced a fantastic display at left back following the departure of skipper Jake McCarthy through injury.
