Today Dover traveled to local rivals Kennington for the return league fixture of the season. In wet and windy conditions it was Kennington who started much better and were fully justified for their early goal. Dover were very slow to react and were lucky to go in at the break only one goal behind. In the second half Dover finally woke up. First George Nikaj was played through on goal and nice interplay only to see his effort blocked at the near post. Then moments later he went even closer and a good cross on the right from Bailey Wadhams, George Nikaj trapped the ball on the edge of the box but saw his shot thunder back against the underside of the crossbar. Dover continued to press for an equalizer but had to take more and more chances defensively and were thankful to goal keeper Luke Lockhart for saving the ball well when the Kennington striker was sent through one vs one. As time almost ran out Dover nearly snatched an equalizer their second half performance deserved when Terry Mills weaved through the Kennington defense only to pass the ball agonizingly wide of the far post. In the end the final say went to Kennington who in the final few seconds counter attacked to score the decisive second goal. For a second week a failure to take chances has cost Dover dearly and they will be hoping to put right next week vs Hollands/Blair in the second round of the Faversham Trophies Cup.
