Newly crowned Kent league champions Dover Athletic u13’s finished the season in emphatic style today against Canterbury Youth.

With the title already sealed there was an air of calm amongst all the players as they put on a real entertaining show for all the parents and supporters who had turned up to celebrate their success this season.

A number of players were in unfamiliar positions today but from the off they demonstrated why they’ve been so dominant, still fighting for every ball with a determination that was likened to that of the season opener. Canterbury barely had chance to threaten Dover’s goal throughout.

Wade Hughes opened the scoring as he so often does and set up the second for Luca Ambriz to score a tap in.

Keane Lebearl scored his first for the team and Dover’s third with a well placed shot from just inside the box after some great intricate play in and around the area from midfielders Wilkins and Thompson.

The first half finished 3-0.

Second half and it was all one way traffic. Dover had 2 goals disallowed having been adjudged as narrowly offside. This only spurred the players on more as Jamie Kennedy added a further 2 goals, the pick of the brace was a delightful lobbed effort, and Wade Hughes completed the scoring with a solo effort as he skipped past 2 defenders and almost broke the net with a screamer taking his tally to an amazing 39 goals this season.

Qimmarie Thompson claimed 2 assists on the day and demonstrated fantastic work rate throughout but man of the match was Keane Lebearl who played with great composure and stuck to his task from start to finish.

The game finished 6-0 with applauds from both sets off supporters and coaches as the Dover players left the field.

Athletic u13 sealed another win and finished an impressive 13 points clear of their nearest rivals.

It’s been an amazing and truly memorable journey this season and a real privilege to have worked with such a hard working and determined group of players.

Boys, you’ve done yourselves proud, your parents proud and your coaches/club proud. Now you can enjoy a well deserved break and we look forward to doing the same again next season.

Thank you to everyone involved this year. Champions !!!
