It was a very tough Kent cup match today. Weather conditions were awful and the wind and rain did not lend itself to enjoyable football which ended up a game of 2 halves.

Dover were without a goal keeper and had to alter the team to suit with Karolis Piragis thankfully stepping. This made it tough right from the opening whistle.

Ramsgate opened the scoring early on with a goal direct from a corner with the strong wind claiming the assist. They then scored a second from a free kick again thanks largely to the strong wind moving the ball around in ways that Christiano Ronaldo would be proud of…..!

Second half with the wind on their side Dover were persistently attacking but Ramsgate held firm and remained very resilient at the back.

We had high hopes of a cup run but it wasn’t to be, but we take away the positives and learn from the negatives.

Not a pretty game to watch and sadly the weather played a big part but congratulations to Ramsgate who progress to the next round.

The 2 teams meet again next week for a league match. Roll on Sunday !!!
