Dover welcomed a resurgent Hollands & Blair today looking to continue their good form from the end of 2017. Starting positively from the off the first half was very competitive with the only chance falling to Kai Griffin who was denied from close range having be put through from the industrious Liam McVie. Despite a good first half in possession a lack of quality with final pass and some excellent Hollands & Blair defending. The second half started similar to first half with lots of competitive challenges flying in. On the hour Dover finally produced a moment of quality with Kai Griffin collecting the ball midway through the Hollands and Blair half and proceeded to slice open the pass to free George Nikaj the opportunity to put Dover 1-0 up. 5 minutes later it was 2-0, again good work set Liam McVie through on goal and after beating the final defender he unselfishly squared to George Nikaj to score his second of the match. At 2-0 it was then Holland and Blairs turn to attack who nearly reduced the score on two separate occasions, Both involving swift counter attacks, first Dover were spared by a post and then secondly a smart close range stop from the returning Luke Lockhart in goal. The game was made safe in the final 15 mins when Kai Griffin found the top corner of the net with a beautiful free kick from 20 yards. A comprehensive 3-0 start to 2018 hopefully will see Dover climb the table over the second half of this competitive season.
