Our u13’s put in a dominant performance today and we’re deserving winners against London side Cray Valley FC to book their place in the semi-final and into the last 4 of the Kent cup.

A month has passed since our u13 last played a competitive match so we could forgive them for starting off slow.

Just a minute passed and Dover were a goal down having barely even touched the ball.

However this proved the catalyst to fire the boys into action and they went on, to totally dominate the game.

Dover’s equaliser came 10 minutes later from an unlikely source when centre back Jack Kilby sprinted up for a corner and latched on to a ball driven into the box.

Dover continued to press hard and showed fantastic determination to win the ball back whenever out of possession and were rewarded for their persistence soon after when striker Wade Hughes netted the second and the third just before half time.

Second half and Dover continued to dominate barely giving the opposition chance to breath.
Captain Harry Meleady slotted home Dover’s forth following some great build up play in midfield and Jamie Kennedy fired home the teams fifth from a rebound after the keeper parried the ball into his path.

It was one way traffic for the last 15 minutes as more and more players pushed forward with the Cray Valley keeper showing great resilience in goal saving efforts from a number of players.
However the keeper had no chance for Dover’s sixth as Wade Hughes fired home into the bottom right corner with a well placed strike.

With everyone marauding forward at will, it was only minutes later when Dover scored another.
A well worked move around the edge of the area released Pirigis to fire the ball at goal. The keeper initially saved but couldn’t hold on to the ball where Wade Hughes was well placed to yet again capitalise bagging his forth with an easy tap-in, and scoring the teams seventh and well and truly booking that semi final spot.

The match ended 7-1 to Dover.

Well done to all players who worked tirelessly when out of possession which proved the difference between the 2 teams on the day.

The midfield in particular worked so hard protecting the back 4 and showed some great creativity and movement when supply the forwards.
