A spirited performance in a testing game sees Dover Athletic poised to be crowned Kent Youth League U18 Champions for the second time in three years. In a game that saw both sides have good periods of possession it was Athletic who took their chances with goals from Jack Gealer and Ben Cassingena to go in at half time 2-0 up. Athletic knew another goal could see the tie won but knew that Hastings would come out all guns blazing in order to get a victory on home turf. Hastings started the second half strongly with Athletic’s play being scrappy at times but their team spirit and determination kept Hastings at bay until a sloppy goal was conceded in the 75th minute. This was the motivation that Athletic needed and within 3 minutes Liam Jones scored their third goal with a decisive shot following a great counter attack. From here on in with the game now opening up Athletic took advantage of the space creating further chances and had it not been for the Hasting goal keeper making a number of top class saves Athletic would have doubled the score line.
