This Tuesday Dover took on Ramsgate under the lights at Southwood Stadium. After Sunday’s disappointing performance Dover looked to start with intent and were almost ahead twice in the opening 5 minutes, first a good save prevented Liam McVie from opening the score before moments later only the woodwork kept the scores level. After 20minutes Dover had no idea how they were still level, and then they cruelly went 0-1 down. An overhit deep freekick seemed to be harmlessly heading out for a GK before dipping and dropping into the net much to the disbelief of everyone in the stadium. It took Dover by surprise but they regrouped and were level just before half time when after a flurry of corners, Arthur Clarke stopped in to head the leveller. The second half continued as the first with Dover enjoying a lot of the ball and Ramsgate playing on the counter. With 20 minutes to go Dover went ahead with a wonderful individual effort from Liam McVie. After a corner was only partially cleared to edge of the box Liam cushioned the ball with chest before volleying the ball into the top corner of the net to put Dover deservedly ahead. Unfortunately as seems to be the way this season, Dover gave away another sloppy goal. After not focusing for a quick free kick Ramsgate cross was only partially cleared and another hopeful long range shot squirmed into the corner of the goal. Not to be denied a win though, Dover attacked again and with 10 minutes to go finally got the winner after being set free Liam McVie rounded the GK to score his 4th goal in 2 games. A 3-2 win for Dover flattered Ramsgate but after Sunday was a good response in a nice setting for the boys.
