“Off the back of last weeks impressive 5-0 win over Bredhurst Dover travelled away to rivals Ramsgate today in search of another 3 points. The previous game was a very close match so it was important Dover started well. In cold conditions it was Dover who made the early breakthrough, Liam McVie racing onto a through ball to score with a well taken finish. 1-0 quickly became 2-0 as after quick interplay between George and Liam, Liam was again put through for another simple finish. Dover were in confident mood and nearly added a 3rd before Ramsgate pulled a goal back in controversial fashion via the penalty spot. Goalie Luke Lockhart was harshly accused of bringing down the Ramsgate player in the box and Ramsgate gratefully reduced the deficit to 2-1. Rather than let the incident knock Dover’s confidence it was Dover who used the goal to spur them on. A great in-swinging corner from the Kai Griffin set up Ben Wardle to head home to make it 3-1, and then Griffin himself was rewarded for a good first half performance by powering home a long range effort just before half-time to give Dover a comfortable 4-1 lead. Dover took their foot off the pedal in the second half but still managed to add 2 further goals from the impressive Liam McVie. A late consolation from Ramsgate couldn’t take the gloss off a strong Dover performance which sets them up nicely for next weeks Kent Cup Quarter Final.”
