Dover moved in to the next round of the Kent County Cup, but not before an early scare against their lower league opponents.

Whilst Dover had the better of the early exchanges, it was clear from the start that their opponents were not over-awed. Having spurned some good chances to open the scoring, Dover were punished when Wye split open the home defence for a well taken goal against the run of play. This prompted Dover to go on the offensive, but midway through the half their opponents broke again to clinically double their lead. Dover were undeterred, and the fight back started when Dylan Hammond made a driving run from the left flank, slipping the ball through to Henry Mileham, whose first time cross was headed into the net by Dwayne Kattah from a few yards out. Just before the break a Hammond in-swinging cross dissected the Wye defence for Kattah to level the scores.

The start of the second half saw Dover continue to struggle to break down their determined opponents, although as the half wore on they started to create numerous chances with Baily Sinnock and Kattah both heading against the crossbar in one exchange. The decisive goal happened in bizarre circumstances, when the Wye goalkeeper failed to hold onto a speculative effort from Jack Hansen, with Kattah the quickest to react and put the ball across the area where it was turned into the net for an own goal. Soon after, Dover added to their lead when Mileham crossed from the right for Kattah to coolly control and place the ball into the net for his hat-trick. As their opponents tired, the same combination saw Mileham cross for man of the match Kattah to add to his personal tally. In the closing minutes, Mileham who was enjoying a lot of space out wide, whipped another ball in, this time it was Hector Duppre who headed home from close-range to complete the scoring.
