Dover negotiated a difficult away tie in testing conditions to move into the next round of the Causeway Steel Challenge Cup. Dover played the first half into a strong wind, and it was immediately obvious that they were not going to be able to play their normal fluent passing game on a pitch that was both small and uneven, with the opposition quick to close down players in possession of the ball. The opening exchanges were even, with neither side gaining the initiative nor creating any clear cut chances, although it was Dover who attempted to play a passing game, with man of the match Finlay Jarman-Hume showing good technical skills in moving the ball quickly despite the conditions. Almost out of the blue Greenway opened the scoring from an innocuous free-kick that goalkeeper Ryan Tyler misread in the wind. Dover showed good battling qualities, and were rewarded when Henry Mileham chased down a ball on the right and curled in a first time cross for Hector Dupree to head into the net from a few yards to level the scores at the break.

The second half saw Dover start to take control of the game with the wind behind them, and Jack Hansen was unfortunate not to score after a fine mazy run. As a result of their dominance, Dover soon took the lead, although the conditions played their part with Dupree scoring direct from a corner. The third and decisive goal was also one not typical of Dover, although showed their adjustment to the conditions, as Dwayne Kattah latched onto a punt up field from goalkeeper Tyler to coolly finish. The final play of the game saw a Mileham chipped pass to Charlie Dale on the right side of the area, whose first time control and clinical finish into the far corner of the net completed the scoring.

The 4-1 score line was a fair reflection of the Dover superiority, although for a long time the game was in the balance against a fast, determined and physical side, with Dover demonstrating real battling qualities to overcome the challenge.
