Our u13’s returned to their league campaign this week with yet another great result, extending their win streak to an impressive 6 games in succession, this time against local rivals Folkestone Invicta. Folkestone have a good defensive record in the league so we knew we’d be in for a close match.

The game started very physical from the off with the referee seemingly letting every challenge go, which culminated in a number of tough battles in the middle third and it took literally 15 minutes before any keeper was really tested.

The midfield battles continued and it wasn’t until the 22 minute when the deadlock was broken with Dover’s ‘in form’ striker Jamie Kennedy finishing off a solo effort with a left footed strike finding the back of the net.

Folkestone then reverted to playing continual long balls which played into our hands with our defence and goal keeper easily dealing with any threat the opposition offered. Eddie Jordan produced a stand out performance at the back stifling just about every attack the opposition had down the wing.

Second half and Folkestone switched to a 4-3-3 formation which handed Dover an overload advantage in midfield and we started to take more and more control of the game. Jamie Kennedy and Wade Hughes both coming close midway through the half but it was Qimmarie Thompson returning to the team after 2 weeks out, who finally added a second with a close range effort thumped into the goal giving the keeper no chance.

A physically tough game throughout, but the Dover lads yet again demonstrating that there happy to adapt to all the different challenges that each team offer each week.

The match ended 0-2 to Dover with another 3 points and a clean sheet taking our goal difference to +30 in just 8 games.
