DAFC U16’s 2-0 Bearsted

The U16s started their Kent League campaign with a convincing victory over Bearsted.

As anticipated the match started at a high tempo, and despite Dover gaining the early ascendancy they met some strong resistance from Bearsted, with chances restricted to a few shots from distance. As the half wore on, Dover began to gain more possession and move the ball around quickly, stretching the opposition. Eventually the Bearsted defence were not able to clear a dangerous cross from Charlie Dale, resulting in Dylan Tubb opening the scoring with a cool finish into the top corner. Despite more pressing, Dover were unable to add to the score and were 1-0 up at half-time. The only blemish was to lose Jack Hansen to injury.

The start of the second half saw Dover take complete control of the match, particularly dominating in the midfield area, with the opposition unable to compete with Joe Muddiman’s energy and drive. Numerous chances were spurned, before Dwayne Kattah was quick to pounce on a loose ball to tap in after another fine move to double the lead. Somehow Dover were not able to further add to their lead, despite creating more chances, including a powerful Kattah header that hit the crossbar, with little threat from Bearsted.

This was a very encouraging performance to start the season despite not being reflected in the score line, with all the new players making positive contributions and integrating well into the team.

Great performance from all Dover Athletic players but man of the match was Finlay Jarman Hume (dictated the play for start to finish, controlled well drilled performance)
