After 3 months of training and anticipation Dover U15s were finally back in league action this weekend in the Kent Youth League. Starting against a strong Kennington side Dover were eager to start on the front foot and found themselves 2-0 up in the first 10mins. First good interplay on the right gave Bailey chance to drive into the box and cross for last seasons top scorer Liam to head home his first of season.

Moments later the scorer turned provider after good passing, a fantastic through ball from Liam gave George the simple task of doubling the lead. The goal seemed to fire Kennington up and for the next 10 mins they pressed Dover back before finally reducing the deficit with a shot from the edge of the box which unfortunately cannoned back in off the debutant GK. Dover then responded themselves well and good interplay in the middle again set George free, and from 25yards he found the top corner of the net to give Dover some breathing space. Similar to start of the game, Dover scored 2 goals in quick succession and again George was on hand to complete his hat trick from close range. Kennington rallied again, and a driving run saw just before half time saw them reduce the deficit to 4-2.

After a frantic first half the second half failed to live up to the same excitement as Dover showed they could also defend well as a team. Full time and a 4-2 win to start the season, Dover went away satisfied with an afternoons work but know there is still a long way to go.
